The Reverend Dr. James L. Sailes has been pastor over 28 years at the Antioch Baptist Church. Born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, he was called to preach the gospel many years ago. His educational background started in the public schools of Chattanooga. He has earned a degree of Divinity from Virginia Union University, Richmond, Virginia; a Masters Degree in counseling from Holstra University, Long Island, New York and a Doctorate of Ministry degree from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union, Richmond, Virginia. He is a retiree from the United States Army and has worked as a teacher and counselor. Dr. Sailes is well-known in the Richmond community where he has served as past president of the Henrico Minister's Fellowship as well as past president of the Baptist Minister's Conference of Richmond and vicinity. He and his wife, Gail, resides in the Richmond area. They have four children, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
