Daniel Fast - Day 4: Preparing/Commitment

Staying with it- that’s what is required.  Stay with it to the end. You won’t be sorry. (Luke 21:19)

 Preparing is for cleansing and aligning your soul preparing you spiritually, emotionally and mentally to bring the seed of purpose planted in you.  Don’t take it lightly, God is preparing you but he is also preparing a place of purpose and abundance, beyond what you can think or imagine.  No small thinking!

Focus Tips: (Characteristic 4: Commitment)   Preparation requires commitment.  Commitment to your purpose, goals, or values, your flesh wants comfort and pleasure, but your soul and spirit desire growth and significance.  Today your focus on commitment. Commitment requires faith.  You must not only have faith in God but faith in the person who God has made you to be. Complete the following action steps today:


  • In light of “thinking bigger,” what would your life look like if you were to actually “win the true life of your soul?” Imagine it now.
  • What are you going to commit to doing in order to save the real you?
  • Identify one thing you should purge from your life that is causing you to lose the real you.
  • Now identify one thing you could add that will help cultivate your truest self.

Food tips:   Mid Morning Snack Options (Pack your bag with snacks)

  • Fresh Fruit
  • Dried Fruit & Nuts ( no peanuts)

 Fitness tips: Do 25 Push-ups

Pushups require no equipment and can be varied in many ways to train different muscle groups.  "Aesthetically, pushups develop the pectoralis muscles of the chest, which help to prevent breast sagging as women age."

Start with modified pushups, resting on your knees as opposed to on the toes. Keep your back straight, abdominals tensed, and hips and butt down. Your chest should completely touch the floor without allowing your midsection to drop onto the floor. Gradually increase the number of reps as you build strength until you can hoist yourself up on your toes in traditional pushup form.

“I am the Bread of Life. The person who aligns with me hungers no more and thirsts no more, ever” (John 6:35)

 The number 40 is associated with repentance and realignment. Coming into alignment with Christ is the only way to discover your true self.  Letting someone else lead and giving up control may be a new adventure for you, but the process is worthwhile.  

Focus Tips: (Characteristic 3: Truth)   Today your fasting is on Truth.  Truth demands honesty.  Those daring to live authentically must first and foremost, be honest with themselves and others.  Always speak the truth. Exemplify truth. Uphold the truth. Stand on the truth. Live the truth!  Complete the following action steps today:

  • Sit quietly with the Spirit of Truth and allow Him to guide you into all truth about who God has created you to be. ( See John 16:13)
  • Invite the Holy Spirit to reveal “deep and hidden things” about yourself that you should either embrace or change. ( see Daniel 2:22)
  • Ask Him to help you filter through what is not of the truth, to cut anything away from your heart or mind that is not true, and to help you cultivate those things that lead “to finding yourself, your true self” ( Luke 9:23)
  • What would this new, true life look like if it were conceived in you?
  • How can you realign your life so that it reflects the authentic you God had in mind?

Food tips:  (Breakfast Options) Take breakfast from 6:00 am – 9:00 am with small options

  • Oatmeal or Rice cereal and Fresh Fruit with Almond Milk
  • Fresh Fruit

Food Elimination for Today - Day 3 

  • Dairy Products: Milk, butter, eggs, cheese, ice cream, dairy dressings (ranch, blue cheese etc). Alternatives = soy butter, soy milk & olive oil.

Fitness tips: Avoid Fitness Barriers.

Check your expectations. You didn’t get out of shape overnight, and you’re not going to instantly transform your body either. Expecting too much, too soon only leads to frustration. Try not to be discouraged by what you can’t do or how far you have to go to reach your fitness goals. Instead of obsessing over results, focus on consistency. While the improvements in mood and energy levels may happen quickly, the physical payoff will come in time.

Daniel Fast - Day 2:Cleansing/Godliness

Investigate my Life, O God, find out everything about me; cross-examine and test me, get a clear picture of what I’m about; see for Yourself whether I’ve done anything wrong-then guide me on the road to external life. (Psalms 139:23-24)

Today is a study of cleansing, sometimes we are our own worst enemy.  We self-sabotage our own success.  By identifying those things that only you with the help of the Holy Spirit can pinpoint you can begin to eliminate your soul of toxins.   Free yourself from heavy burdens. Break free from oppression. Cleanse your mind of the thoughts that weigh you down. Replace your toxic thoughts and polluted mindset with the light of the truth from the Word of God.

Focus Tips: (Characteristic 2: Godliness)   Today your fasting is on having more Godliness.  Godliness begins with the God-likeness of our thoughts- the thoughts that govern your mind. I encourage you today to do a thorough study of the word godliness and meditate on all it implies.  Then ask yourself where you are falling short of it.  Complete the following action plan:

  • Meditate on the following and journal what you believe the Bible is saying about you as a person: God created human beings in His own image-reflecting His Own nature.  He blessed them saying: “Prosper!”
  • Are you sabotaging your own success by the thoughts you think? Are you allowing those thoughts to interfere with how God wants you to view yourself? Are you giving someone else permission to lay things on you that aren’t yours to carry and don’t further you towards your destiny?
  • Are your past failures holding dominion over your future? Are relationships distracting you or worse, suppressing your God-like nature for greatness, significance, and love?
  • In what areas are you living “a godless, indulgent life” and how can you starting right now begin living a more “God-filled, God-honoring life?
  • What undermining habits do you want God to help you to give up? List them and commit them to prayer.  From this day onward, expect God to empower you to live a godly life pleasing to him.

Food tips:  (Morning Cleanse) Upon Rising, drink hot water and lemon, take your probiotic, cell food and a half hour later drink any juice or other green drink. 

Fitness tips:  Break exercises into smaller chunks so you don’t feel guilty not getting them in at all.

. When you go outside to pick up your morning newspaper, take a brisk 5-minute power walk up the street in one direction and back in the other. 

Try 5 to 10 minutes of jumping jacks. (A 150-pound woman can burn 90 calories in one 10-minute session.)

God’s Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are (Romans 8:15)

Today, the first day of your journey teaches you about Transformation and begins with the focus on awareness.  How can you be truly yourself if you’re not aware of who you truly are?

Focus Tips : (Characteristic 1: Awareness) for now, I want you to simply focus on being more self-aware today.  Without cultivating self-awareness, nothing else you do will move you toward living more authentically. If you are to grow as a person, you must be aware of what your thoughts are telling you about whom you are now and who you are capable of becoming.   I want you to prayerfully lean into the Spirit of God within yourself.  Listen carefully to what you hear God’s Spirit saying and write down what you hear.  Tonight, reflect and take responsibility for knowing yourself more completely, use the 3 bullet point on page 67 to start your journaling and answer the 24 questions given in this chapter.


Food tips:  Sample Daily Meal Plan:

  • Eat six times daily instead of Three
  • Take enzymes with each meal.
  • Drink Herbal or green tea throughout the day.


Fitness tips:  Don’t just jump right in and start exercising six days a week fully if you haven’t already started-- that’s a recipe for disaster, says John Higgins, MD, Director of Exercise Physiology at the University Of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. It’s better that you gradually work up to exercising several days per week while you see how your body responds.  Min. 15 minutes a day of some type of heart increasing exercise.

How much water have you drunk today? 

Friends:  Day 1 of transformation reminds us about Love. Make Love a habit. And let us consider and give attentive, continuous care to watching over one another, studying how we may stir up to love and helpful deeds and noble activities (Hebrews 10:24) If you intend to make love a habit, you must develop the habit of loving people with words. Your fleshly nature points out flaws, weaknesses, and failures. It seems to feed on the negatives in life. But the bible says you are to overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21) Walking in the spirit continually following the leading, guiding, and working of the Holy Spirit through your own spirit instead of being led by your emotions.. required being positive. Love does not expose faults it covers them. Ask God to help you share His love with others today. Share your love with everyone you see today. Have a bless Valentines Day.

Therefore if any person in Christ is a new creation, the old has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come. ( 2 Corinthians 5:17)

Lenten season begins on Ash Wednesday, February 14th.  For those celebrating Valentine's you may start on Day 2.   Lenten season ends officially on Holy Thursday, March 29th but we are ending on March 30th so those who started on the 2nd day can complete the fast.  You have Sundays off so please take this day to relax and renew yourself to resume Fast for Monday.  Please let me know if I have left anyone off or if we need to add anyone.


For those who are doing the 21 day cleansing here are some helpful tips.  I have also included another cookbook for you to incorporate in your Daniel Plan.  Once we complete the 21 day cleanse we will meet on March 10th to check in.    I will be sending out information daily and some meditation videos as well.  Please try to wake up giving thanks and before you  retire for the evening.   Also please feel free to  send out words of encouragement to each other during the fast.  If you have any recipes you think would be great -  Please share.  
Remember:  It's not about what you are giving up, but how you want to be Blessed by God.  What are you willing to change in your life today?  Daniel fasted because he wanted a deeper relationship with God and to increase his spiritual life.  What about you.
Remember the five F's:
FAITH- (PRAYER) - I can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Philippians 4:13,  You must believe that change is possible.

FOOD (FRUITS/VEGETABLE INCREASE)  -So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God  (I Corinthian 10:31) Make your food your health-style not your lifestyle.

FITNESS(CREATE AN EXERCISE PLAN AND STICK TO IT  - 2 days, 4 days, 6 days) -Therefore honor God with your bodies. (I Corinthian 6:19-20)  Be "Daniel Strong", physically, emotionally, relationally & spiritually fit.

FOCUS-(MEDITATION) -  Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. (Romans 12:21)  Focus on God's plan for YOU.  Read Ephesians 4:23-24)

FRIENDS - (LOVE ON ONE ACCORD)Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor (Eccl. 4:9)  Support and Friendship makes any journey a greater success.

Living with Diabetes...


If you have diabetes, your blood glucose, or blood sugar, levels are too high. Over time, this can cause problems with other body functions, such as your kidneys, nerves, feet, and eyes. Having diabetes can also put you at a higher risk for heart disease and bone and joint disorders. Other long-term complications of diabetes include skin problems, digestive problems, sexual dysfunction, and problems with your teeth and gums.

One of the number one worries of a diabetic is the possibility of their A1C number going up instead of down, which can lead to so many complications, like those listed above.  So, what can you do….????
